Klein Residence

KLEIN WHOLE HOUSE ARCHITECTURAL INTERIOR REMODEL, EVERSON, WA
‘Renovate and restore the charm to a rural 1920’s cottage-style farmhouse’

Project statement: Bathroom

A Complete core and shell remodel within the original foot print of the room, relocate the toilet away from the door and add a pocket door thus creating space for a new linen armoire; add a new locally produced custom wood vanity with granite top, new ceramic tiled shower with glass enclosure, and a new metal clad wood cottage style window to bring in more light and frame the view to the rear garden. Add new architectural and decorative lighting.

Project statement: Living Room

Take a small, bland room and totally re-imagine it within the limits of its basic footprint.  Incorporate a new gas fireplace and fireplace surround, rearrange and replace the existing windows to capture and frame the view of the surrounding fields, borrow a few feet from the existing porch to enclose and create a new foyer, add a new cottage-style entrance door and glass side lights, design and develop an architectural trim package to bring order, balance and a layered richness to the room. Use natural slate in a custom pattern design at the fire box, the hearth, and the foyer floor. Develop an architectural lighting plan to illuminate the space, artwork, the fireplace, and custom built-in bookcases.

KLEIN INTERIOR DESIGN
‘Develop warm, comfortable, and invitingly intimate spaces that hug you like a favorite sweater’

Project statement: Kitchen

Work with the existing kitchen layout and the maple kitchen cabinets making only moderate changes while achieving a ‘new room’ in both look and atmosphere.  The same bead board wainscot from the bathroom was added to the kitchen as well as new wood windows – in the old openings – and this gave the room an entirely new feeling. Add the warm cinnabar paint swath to the wall above the creamy wainscot below and the room became new again!

Project statement: Living Room

Take the remodeled architectural space of the living room and create a comfortable and inviting seating area in front of the new gas fireplace. Select a neutral color palette for the room as a counterpoint to the cinnabar painted kitchen while serving as a subtle backdrop for the colorfully upholstered furniture and fabrics. Choose furniture pieces which are stylish yet simple and wonderfully comfortable. Select custom fabrics to work with the exquisite Persian tribal rug while coordinating with its vivid colors and tribal motifs. Select an eclectic and varied mix of furniture—wood, metal, glass, bamboo, and woven leather—to delight and intrigue the eyes and the senses. Add to the mix, decorative table lamps and understated accessories. Original Pacific Northwest art will collected over time, framed and hung.
